We present two types of desktop printers for plastic cards
1. Sublimation thermal direct printing on card with print head.
2. Retransfer thermal printing on tape and transfer to card.
1. The first type (sublimation) printers are designed to print information or images on pre-printed cards, both color and monochrome. The printer has edge-to-edge printing capability.
2. Printers of the second (retransfer) type are designed to print a full surface image of a white card.
In the case of both printers, it is preferable to cover the color print with a tough thin or thick lamination film, the thicker the film, the greater the visual durability of the card. The tape protects the print from various impacts.
Plastic card printing printers can print at different speeds, on one or both sides of the card. A color print takes longer to complete than a monochrome one of any color.
Most printers have a variety of features that can be used to perform different tasks, depending on the specific model of the printer.
The printer can be equipped with various modules, such as lamination and laser modules, or other specific function modules.
The consumables of a retransfer printer are much more expensive than those of a sublimation printer.
Plastic card sublimation printers have a wide selection of both color and monochrome ribbons.
For both types of printers, transparent lamination and tough holographic lamination tapes are used. They are distinguished by materials of different thickness and thickness.
Software:
Both printers need a driver for communication with the computer, which is included in the kit.
